Our school councillors:

The class voted for these responsible children to represent our class. They go to regular meetings and feed back any information to help our class be part of the community of Holland Haven.

Learning Outside the Classroom

Picture
We enjoy taking our learning outside and have been taking part in activities to help us develop our English and maths skills as well as using creativity to develop our teamwork skills.

Learning in LHW

Picture
In our class we are always encouraged to use growth mindset during our learning and to challenge ourselves. We learn that with practice we can keep improving in everything we do.

Autumn Term Castles Topic

This term our topic is all about castles. Our learning has a historical focus which includes learning about the different parts of the castle and how castles were built to help defend the people who lived inside from invaders. We are also finding out about the jobs that people in castles had to do and about the differences between the food they ate in castles and the food we eat now. We will be investigating how a castle banquet was planned and prepared.

Spring Term Dinosaurs Topic

Picture
We are delving into the world of dinosaurs this term.
We will be writing adventure stories by travelling back in time to when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. As part of our history curriculum we are finding out about the palaeontologist Mary Anning.
Our science topics focus on animal classification and what animals need to survive, followed by looking at a range of habitats and the finding out about what plants need to grow.

We encourage the children to read as much as possible and have created a comfortable reading area where children can spend some quiet time enjoying a topic book or a story.
