Hello from the Multi-Schools Council!

A note from our director Kierran:
'‘Tough times never last but tough people do. Our model of engagement has continued this term.
Awareness of our differences, pupil voice meetings and even a new podcast have all carried on. The
pressure on schools is heavy but I encourage all of you to stay engaged and to keep improving on
inclusive practice."

We now have 344 schools signed up across Essex as well as schools in other areas such as Southend,
Thurrock, Norfolk & Hertfordshire. Supporting our schools, we have our brilliant Multi-school
ambassadors, of which we now have 31 across the Essex area and beyond. They will be working hard
to break down perceptions.
Please take a look at the incredible art work our ambassador Kim  created above!

Our website has been updated!!
You can visit it here - https://www.multischoolscouncil.org.uk/
Please share it with your students and let us know what you think. You could also add a link to our
website on your school’s website to help spread awareness!

Our podcast is still active!
To launch the new podcast series on The multi-schools lowdown' we interviewed Max Whitlock, Olympic gymnast and double gold medalist. The episode is great to share with your class as he talks about keeping fit and healthy and what he is doing to help increase employment opportunities in sport. The pod also has episodes from the last series on ADHD and other areas in this series such as building resilience and a mental health assembly
To listen to the most recent episodes please follow this link -
https://feeds.captivate.fm/the-multi-schools-lowdon/ .
If you have a pupil that would be willing to
raise awareness about a particular subject and feature on one of our episodes please do get in
contact by emailing – mschoolscouncil@gmail.com

This academic year we will be recognising our standout schools in a more concrete way by holding
an end of year awards event. The event, which will be supported by Essex County Council, will be
invite only depending on how active individual schools are. We are working with various
organisations to best highlight each school’s involvement!

We are still taking bookings from February 2021 onwards for our school inclusion offers. The offer
includes – ASD awareness for children & staff, ADHD awareness for children & staff and
Resilience/Mental health awareness for staff.

What people have said!
'I took over our School Council a few years ago when I heard about the MSC.
We went along to our first meeting and were blown away by what Kierran was offering for all local
children.
Kierran’s passion for inclusion and equality has driven this and it’s gone from strength to strength.
I then set up a Parent Council who were also welcomed to the meetings, and more recently we have
set up a team of Inclusion Ambassadors (a group of children specially selected by staff because they
needed a voice and some encouragement, because we all know that sometimes School Council can
be a bit of a popularity contest!)
From this we have benefitted a great deal from our involvement with the MSC.
Kierran is a regular at our school now and has taken assemblies, trained staff and pupils on a variety
of subjects regarding inclusion, and we’re currently in the middle of the brilliant resilience
programme.
We’re very lucky to have this all available, and for free! The feedback we’ve had from the children
and staff involved in any of the above has been excellent.'

WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU!
We would really appreciate it if you could take the time to give us your feedback on the Multi-Schools Council - it's very important for us to hear your opinion so please follow this link:
