PIRATES
Ahoy Shipmates!
Welcome aboard! We have been enjoying our new topic for this term - Pirates! We will be looking at all areas of the curriculum to experience life at sea. In art, we will be using water colour techniques to produce a seascape depicting the colours and feel of the open ocean. In history, we will research famous pirates - real and from fiction; a pirate's diet will come under scrutiny and we will investigate the different types of pirate ships. In PE our indoor session will be fitness, using circuits to cover all areas. Geography will see us using a compass to help us with our mapping skills and hopefully, if the weather is kind to us, we will be able to take our learning outside to put our knowledge to the test.
Science is all about teeth and eating. How can we care for our teeth? What are the different types of teeth and what effect does food have on them? After half term, states of matter will be our focus for learning. Looking at solid, liquid and gases, we will see how these change with investigachanges that can occur to these In PSHE we will find out how to take care of ourselves - keeping healthy and keeping clean. In RE we will be looking at creation stories from different religions, comparing them by discovering similarities and differences between them.

Our classroom:
Thank you for the amazing Parent Pupil projects! They have been fantastic and clearly show how much the children (and grown ups!) have been enjoying this topic. From Lego to clay, cardboard to cake! Take a look at the photos to see these brilliant creations. Don't worry if you haven't completed one yet, they can be bought in the first week back after half term.
Our amaryllis - 'Paris'
We have been caring for a beautiful and fascinating plant. It has been a source of many conversations and provoked lots of really great questions. But what we can't wait to find out is: What colour will it be? White How tall will it grow? Approximately 50cm These photographs show how quickly it has grown. UPDATE: It has a white flower! We are still waiting for the other stem to bloom. We had the new stem blossom and it gave us an amazing display. We have drawn our plant in art, using sketching techniques, to capture this beautiful bloom. |
Science:
We have been investigating how food and drink can damage our teeth. Don't worry - we know how to look after them too!

This term, we will be looking at changes of state. With the cold weather recently, it gives us a great opportunity to do real-life experiments with freezing and melting materials. Here are the children being solid, liquid and gas particles:
Athlete visit:
Recently, we were very lucky to have had a visit from an aspiring Olympian. Here are some of the circuits we took part in. Thank you for your support in fundraising for this event.
