LARGER THAN LIFE
The Tudor period was full of amazing stories and characters. Our 'Larger than Life' focus will be on Henry VIII and William Shakespeare. Why did Henry marry six times? What were the key events during his reign and how has that impacted on our lives today? These are just some of the questions we will be investigating this half term.
After the holiday, we will turn our attention towards William Shakespeare. We will look at his life - where he lived and worked, and of course, his plays. Children have already begun to share their books from home and knowledge of these characters and we are excited to expand on this over the next few weeks.

Parent Pupil Project
As you are aware, our parent pupil project is to produce a diorama based on a William Shakespeare play. We have had some beautiful works of art this year from home, so we are all looking forwad to seeing more fabulous pieces again. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for putting in such a huge effort with these. They not only make a valuable addition to our theme area but enhance the extended learning that children can have outside of the classroom. Please follow the links in the homework books if you need more information or inspiration on these.

Our learning
We have had lots of experiences so far this term but still have so many great things to look forward to. In science we will be learning about plants and will grow some of our own inside and out! Perhaps children could help in their own gardens? Take a look at some of our activities below.

Growing in MG
We have had the opportunity to watch seeds germinate - from cress to runner beans. By planting the beans in a glass jar, we could watch the whole process unfold every day. We were surprised by how quickly the seeds started to show signs of life. It was an amazing sight to see something that usually takes place underground! We also have our annual potato growing competition happening now - watch this space...

Tudor Day
What an excellent day we had! The children looked fabulous in their costumes - thank you for making such a huge effort. The Archery was a big hit with everyone - lots of golds scored. We all managed to get great scores for the mini competition - well done to Archie D and Ruby for being the top scorers in MG! We made tudor roses in clay and produced a fanfare using recorders, to welcome in the King and Queen. Such a lovely way to finish off our year.
