I know we haven't quite finished it yet, but what do you think so far? Which is your favourite character? Which part made you laugh? Was there anything in the story that made you feel sad?
Congratulations Jamie for an outstanding piece of writing this week!
The rainforest is peaceful. You can hear birds squawking, crickets creeping and rain. You can see snakes slithering and monkeys swinging from tree to tree. You can smell flowers and can hear twigs breaking and leaves flapping about you. You would see tree frogs and chameleons changing colour and blending in to the leaves and trees, and broken down trees laying on the cold soil. A river is going through the forest area. The forest is emerald green.
We have been learning about how to keep plants healthy, and about foods that we can grow to eat but ..... there are many plants that we cannot eat. Some plants would make us ill if we ate them as they contain poisonous chemicals.....
Can anyone do some research and start a list of plants we cannot eat? Remember to add "for kids" on to the end of your search.
Good Luck! Oh... 1 rainforest crystal for anyone who finds the name of an inedible plant and spells it correctly!
Can we write a story in the style of Eric Carle? - think of some more rainforest animals and add your own section.....
The Very Tiny Frog.
Not so very long ago, deep in a dark green forest a
tiny frog sat under a leaf. Drip drip drop sang the raindrops as the frog sheltered from the endless gentle rain.
The hungry frog was waiting for the rain to stop. He was waiting under his favourite fern to catch his tea, but he had already waited all day and was getting rather fed up. Drip drip drop sang
the raindrops over and over again. Drip drip drop.
The tiny frog decided to hop to another part of the forest. "Maybe it isn't raining higher up the valley," thought the tiny frog. He hippety hippety hopped off his leaf and on to the forest floor.
Drip drip drop drummed the relentless rain.
Hop hop hippety hop bounced the tiny frog. He hadn't hopped far when he came upon a
"Hello" said the frog in a tiny croaky voice, "I am fed up with the rain. It keeps the flies away and I am hungry. Do you know if it is raining further up the valley?"
The great grey silver back gorilla looked down, it's fur drip drip dripping and sodden with rain.
"It's raining everywhere," mumbled the gorilla. " this is the rainforest!"
Drip drip drop drop continued the drizzle. Hop hop hippety hop jumped the tiny frog.
He hadn't hopped far when he came across an Anteater.
"Hello" said the frog in a tiny croaky voice, "I am fed up with the rain. It keeps the flies away and I am
hungry. Do you know if it is raining further up the valley?"
The snuffling anteater took its long wet nose out of a muddy termite mound and looked down at
the tiny frog.
"It's raining everywhere," muttered the anteater. " this is the rainforest!"
Drip drip, drop drop, pitter patter pounded the rain.

So excited! The blog page is now live and active - can' t wait to tell the kids on Monday.
Eric Carle books are my favourite because they have animals in them. I like Eric Carles books because they are feely touchy pages and are creative.
I am not sure where this posting will end up.... But wanted to try and post my first blog. I have lots of ideas for using a blog with the class but thought it best to have a go myself first. Wish me luck ... Am going to click the "done" button...
