We used sweets to help is to learn how to create a classification tree. Thinking of the Yes/No questions was quite tricky!
Mrs. Gilbert was given these two beautifully constructed nests; one belonged to a pigeon and the smaller more delicate one belonged to a blackbird family. Sadly , both had been abandoned with their eggs in.... the children were absolutely fascinated by their construction, as well as a little sad to find out that the eggs would never hatch. They discovered all sorts of things about these birds and then created beautiful charcoal drawings. Science and art - what a perfect blend!! Thank you Mrs. Gilbert for bringing the outside inside!
