Our reading garden
We encourage the children to read as much as possible and have created a comfortable reading area where children can spend some quiet time enjoying a theme non-fiction book or a story.

Our Castles theme - Autumn Term

Picture
Picture

Our learning has a historical focus which includes learning about the different parts of the castle and how castles were built to help defend the people who lived inside from invaders.
We are also finding out about the jobs that people in castles had to do and about the differences between the food they ate in then and now.
We will be investigating how a castle banquet was planned and prepared.

We enjoy taking our learning outside and have been taking part in activities to help us develop our English and Maths skills as well as using creativity to develop our teamwork skills. We had a wonderful time at the beach, creating and describing our sandcastles.

Learning in 2HP

In our class we are always encouraged to use growth mindset during our learning and to challenge ourselves. We learn that with practice we can keep improving in everything we do.

We had a wonderful time at Colchester Castle...

In the spring term we will be delving into the land of dinosaurs...
We will be writing adventure stories by travelling back in time to when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. As part of our history curriculum, we will find out about the palaeontologist Mary Anning.
Our science topics focus on animal classification and what animals need to survive, followed by looking at a range of habitats and the finding out about what plants need to grow.

Join us at the Seaside to explore our Ocean Theme this
Summer Term

During our lessons we will be using the theme of Seaside to explore information and stories inspired by the ocean and its sea creatures!

In our theme work, we are learning how to write stories with a sea creature theme, recounts from beach trips and other visits, poems using our senses from our visits and information texts about the ocean.

As responsible members of our world, we are exploring how we can look after the conservation of our
coastline and ocean.

In PE, we enjoyed designing and creating a fantastic under the sea dance. Do you like our shell shapes?

In science, we have been investigating our senses.

In history, we have been exploring evidence about the birth of Clacton, as a seaside town. We even created our own seaside models and added our own piers.

We Would Love to Have You Visit Soon!             Address: Primrose Road, Holland-on-sea, Essex, CO15 5PP
