Holland Haven Primary School
Long-term Global Link with teachers in Kumasi, Ghana

Ghana’s Atiwa rainforest needs protection

The country of Ghana became independent on March 6th 1957. The footage below was filmed by our link-school on March 6th 2017, 60 years later. Every school across the country joins in a national march in their local area to celebrate this anniversary.

In January 2017, the two schools decided to set up a way of communicating more regularly.

This began with HH's Upper School Councillors asking their classes what questions they would like to ask the pupils in our link school. We recorded our top three audio questions and pupils in Year 6 at our link-school replied using the same messaging service.

1. What fun activities do you do at school?
Singing, dancing and watching movies on a Friday.

2. Do you have different activities for different ages?
Yes we do.

3. How many pupil do you have at your school?

315 pupils altogether: 52 in Class 6A, 52 in Class 6B, 51 in Class 5, 49 in Class 4, 55 in Class 3, 50 in Class 2 and 54 in Class 1.

In the autumn of 2010 and 2011, Miss Cole, Mrs Bradbury and our Chair of Governors (Father Philip) visited our link school.

A celebration assembly in our link school.

In the summer of 2011 and 2012, the Headteacher of our link school, Mr Twumasi, and teachers Madam Amma and Mr Gabriel, visited our school.
