Autumn Term

 The Ancient Egyptians

The theme this term will be based around the ancient Egyptians and we will be   gaining key knowledge and developing a variety of skills through this context.

Through our study of Ancient Egypt, the children will develop their writing skills   across a range of both fiction and non-fiction genres. The children will also learn   how to be historians and study the ways of a past civilisation.

We also have lots of exciting art and DT lessons planned, which I'm sure the   children will thoroughly enjoy doing!

Spring Term

Rainforests

We have learnt about the animals and plants that live in the South American rainforests, deforestation and the importance of protecting our planet, climates and habitats. Our class has produced some lovely work and thank you for the Parent Pupil projects that have decorated our class this term.  We visited the zoo, where we spotted many of the animals we have been learning about.

Information for Parents/Guardians

Times Tables
Children must practise their times tables as much as they can at home and will be tested every Tuesday morning. Once they have achieved 12/12 3 times they will be able to move up to the next times table. When they have learnt up to the 12 times tables they will learn division facts. I encourage that children revise 10x, 5x & 2x tables as they seem to forget these when they move up to a higher times table.

Lexia
Children who are enrolled onto the Lexia Programme spend 60 minutes each week on Lexia. This time is spread across 4 mornings throughout the week. I encourage that children also use Lexia at home as well when possible. Please get in touch if you would like to know the pupil's login details.

A.R Reading
Children are expected to be reading their A.R book at home as well as in school time. Ensure children have their A.R book with them each day at school so they are able to complete quizzes and exchange their book.

P.E
P.E is every Wednesday and Friday afternoon.
(Expectations) - All children must have their hair tied up and earrings must be removed by the pupil, tape is no longer allowed. During the winter periods children will need jogging bottoms, jumper and trainers.

Homework
Homework books are due in on Mondays. Children can earn rewards for their team when they complete their homework and weekly reading. Each week there will be either a maths or learning log style activity, as well as spellings and times tables.  Homework books gp out on a Tuesday.
