We learnt about air raids during World War 2, and the different ways people could keep themselves safe: blackouts, Morrison shelters and Anderson shelters. We listened to the ‘Air Raid’ siren and the ‘All Clear’ siren and imagined how it would have felt to be alive during World War 2. Then we went down to the forest and were set the challenge of building an Anderson shelter that would protect us from an air raid. We had 30 minutes to use our forest schools skills to create a strong shelter before the air raid began. As soon as we heard the siren, we had to rush to our shelters. Mrs Clemenson, Mrs Warwick and Miss Webb threw basketball ‘bombs’ at our shelters to test their strength. Most of our shelters survived! But some crumbled!
